With experience improving homes in Croydon for well over 35 years now, the Albion Windows team has learned a thing or two about some of the area’s best sights to see and attractions to experience. Though you might not think it, there’s far more to this South London town than shopping centres and luxury housing.
When we’re not busy helping local homeowners improve their home using stylish and high-performing windows, doors, and conservatories, these are some of our favourite things to do. We thought we’d share them with you!
1. Life on the Western Front military museum
Letting anyone interested in learning more about, not only Croydon, but London in general’s part during the First World War, we’d recommend a visit to the local military museum. Featuring life-size trenches which do well to place you in the mindset of historical British soldiers, professionally presented exhibitions, and more, a visit is sure to be fun as well as educational.
2. Littleheath Woods
Sometimes referred to as Selsdon’s secret wood because you’d never know it was there, Littleheath Woods is a charming green oasis that’s full of nature and wildlife, being the perfect place to relax. The woods cover roughly 61 acres, featuring ponds and two meadows, making it a worthwhile visit every time the seasons change.
3. Croydon rooftop cinema and bar
Ran by a local group of diehard cinephiles ‘The Lost Format Society’, every Summer the top of Croydon’s NCP Fairfeild car park transforms into a rooftop cinema and bar. Letting cinema fans enjoy various cult and contemporary movies. Complete with a bar and various food stalls, the annual event makes for a great atmosphere that has to be experienced in order to be fully appreciated.
4. Oxygen Freejumping trampoline park
Looking for somewhere to exercise while also tapping into your inner child? Oxygen Freejumping in Croydon has you covered! One of the UK’s most celebrated trampoline parks, indulging yourself with many a bounce is a fun and easy day out for all the family, only requiring a phone call to book. There’s a Bear Grylls fitness challenge, weekly dodgeball nights and various other freejumping acitivites.
5. RISE art gallery
Playing host to many up and coming artists as well as various experimental art pieces you wouldn’t find in your typical gallery, RISE is the place to visit should you have any interest in urban contemporary and post-war pop art. The brainchild of prestigious art expert Kevin Zuchowski-Morrison, the gallery plays a key role in London’s creative and cultural landscape and is one of Croydon’s most creative outlets.
Croydon: The home of Albion Windows and so much more
Hopefully we’ve helped to shed a little light on how lucky anyone based in Croydon is to have such amenities and attractions on their doorstep. Once you’re done visiting any one of our recommendations, be sure the home you return to is the best that it can be, with a window, door, or conservatory from the Albion Windows team.
